Jennifer Ringl,
owner of Nest of Grand Traverse and Professional Interior Designer.
Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from
Western Michigan University. With over 12 years experience working all
over the country in both residential and commercial interior design,
Jennifer opened Nest in 2003. "My goal is to design spaces that reflect
our client's lifestyle and personality within their budget." A
successful design means your home reflects who you are and how you
live. Nest designers are here to help guide clients to their desired
end result by coming up with a plan and assisting them in implementing
it. Jennifer believes it is important that Nest designers have at least
a four year degree in Interior Design to ensure a professional result.
Goals of professional designers are to assist in avoiding costly
mistakes, create an aesthetically pleasing environment while
maintaining function and safety. In addition, they are trained to help
you visualize the final design before it has even begun. No space is
too small to benefit from the knowledge of a designer's insight. Nest
designers can provide you with invaluable expertise on current projects
and inspire a direction on future projects.
The definition of a good design is a
design that should work well, serve the needs and requirements of the
user, be well made of quality, appropriate materials and be
aesthetically pleasing.
Project Goals & Objectives / Spatial
Planning: Our designers collect information regarding client
requirements, wants and desires regarding the use and look of the
space. This is a conversation involving listening and understanding
what the client is looking for as an end result for their project.
During the initial visit, we may photograph and measure the space to
gather information regarding any issues or existing elements that may
play a part in determining the design. By gathering information
regarding how you live or work in your space, we are able to develop a
preliminary design for your project.
Preliminary Design: With information
collected, our designers are armed to begin your design. A preliminary
design is prepared for you for your review. A preliminary design may or
may not include: a floor plan drawing, furniture selections, paint and
other finish selections. Once a design plan has been selected, the
designer has a firm direction to begin the design development of your
space.
Design Development: This portion of
the process is all about refining the design.
- Furniture Selection & Specifying
- Window Treatment Selection
- Lamps & Accessory Selection
- Artwork & Wall Décor
- Product Design (Fireplace Surrounds, Custom
Bedding, Pillows, Cabinetry, etc…)
- Floor Covering Selections & Rugs

Project Management & Contract
Administration: Our designers will create floor plan drawings
for proper installation. In addition, as part of Nest's design
services, we are able to manage subcontractors and monitor all aspects
of the project.
Post Completion: To ensure your
project is completed to your satisfaction and when in use by you,
functions in a manner that meets your needs, Nest will do a post
evaluation.
